Sloe Bug

Description:

The Sloe Bug (Dolycoris baccarum) is a species of shield bug in the family Pentatomidae.
The Sloe Bug is a rather variable species. The basic colour is a kind of dark Burgundy red with a fine, black punctation.
The end of the scutellum is always bright yellowish-white and not punctuated.
The remainder of the scutellum is variable in colour: sometimes burgundy red just as the rest of the body, but usuallly yellowish or greenish.
Still this is an unmistakable species, because it is one of the very few shield bugs in Europe with black and white ringed antennae.
The photos show a juvenile (nymph) which are more round and brownish of colour.
