The adult male Collared Sunbird has glossy green upperparts, head and throat with a yellow belly and narrow purple breast band.
The female is a duller green above, has a yellow throat and an entirely yellow belly.
The Collared Sunbird is around 9-10 cm in length and has a shorter bill compared to other sunbirds.
