Common Wood-Pigeon

Description:

Common Wood Pigeons are quite large pigeons (41-45 cm) and have a white spot on the neck and a white band on the wings, which are clearly visible in flight, making the species easy to distinguish at a greater distance from the Rock Pigeon and Stock Dove.
They have a short, yellow bill with a red base and short pink legs.
The plumage in both sexes is the same.
Young Common Wood Pigeons do not yet have a white neck spot (see 1st & 2nd photo).
The bill of the young Common Wood Pigeon is also darker than that of the adult pigeon.
Common Wood Pigeons are found almost everywhere in Europe.
