Madeira Firecrest

Description:

The Madeira Firecrest is a very small passerine bird endemic to the island of Madeira.
Before it was recognised as a separate species in 2003, it was classified as a subspecies of the Common Firecrest.
It differs from the Common Firecrest by having a bold white eyering rather than the white eyebrow stripe of the Common Firecrest.
