Description:
The Egyptian Grasshopper (Anacridium aegyptium) is one of the largest European grasshoppers.
The adult males grow up to 30–55 millimetres long, while females reach 65–70 millimetres in length.
The Egyptian Grasshopper is distinguished from the similar looking (but in Europe now rare) Migratory Locust (Locusta migratoria) by its striped eyes, three transverse grooves on the pronotum (instead of one), a lump between the front legs and blue hind shins (clearly visible on the 2nd photo).
